Geothermal and natural gas meters (lvl II); must be able to identify leaks and test for the accuracy in water, geothermal and gas meters (lvl II); can test, read, repair, or replace meters in water, geothermal and natural gas (lvl II); can maintain records of water, geothermal, gas or street operations and/or daily work being performed (lvl II); perform other duties as needed and assigned. Preferred qualifications: completion of formal or informal education sufficient to assure the ability to read and write at a level required for successful job performance. Required for Level II: must have a minimum of three (3) years hands on experience in the operations of construction, maintenance and repair procedures of water, geothermal, natural gas or street operations; must complete a Competent Person Training class. Licenses/ Certificates: Level I: Valid California Driver’s license and a Class A Certification or ability to obtain Class A within 12 months. Level II: Valid California Driver’s license and a Class A Certification. The current annual salary range for the position of the Maintenance Worker I/II is $29,224.00- $48,793.94. The City provides the following benefits: 14 paid holidays per year, 12 days of paid vacation leave during year one, increasing to 15 days in year two, increasing thereafter dependent on years of service, 13 days of paid sick leave per year. Prepares, presents, and administers the department’s annual budget. Monitors revenues and expenditures insuring fiscal responsibility of the department. Confers with and represents the department and the City in meetings with members of the City Council, members of boards and commissions, various governmental agencies, local law enforcement agencies, and a variety of public and private organizations. Provides various administrative assistance to the City Administrator and other departments; acts as the City Administrator on a relief or as assigned basis. Prioritizes and allocates available resources; reviews and evaluates program and service delivery, makes recommendations for improvement, and ensures maximum effective service provision. Directs the development of specifications for acquisition of a variety of equipment and apparatus. Serves as or directs the provision of services of a designated representative as the ex-officio Sergeant-at-Arms of the Council; maintains order in the Council Chambers by carrying out all instructions given by the presiding officer. Prepares and directs the preparation of a variety of written correspondence, reports, procedures, ordinances, and other written materials. Maintains and directs the maintenance of working and official departmental files. Monitors changes in laws, court decisions, regulations and technology that may affect departmental operations; implements policy, procedural and operational changes as required. Promote the department’s efforts to actively and meaningfully engage all members of the Susanville community through easy to access and simple to understand methods. Required Licenses & Certifications: Must possess a valid California Class C driver's license, or ability to possess prior to appointment, and have a satisfactory driving record. Must we a sworn peace officer within California, or ability to obtain peace officer status in California prior to appointment. Preferred Qualifications: Graduation from a four- year college or university, or equivalent with major course work in criminology, law enforcement, social or police science, public administration or a field related to the work. Two years of command or experience in the police service equivalent to the level of Lieutenant or above. Possession of a California P.O.S.T. Management certificate, or ability to possess prior to appointment. Any combination of experience and education that would provide the required knowledge and abilities managing a diverse law enforcement workforce will be considered. Additional Experience or Ability to: Modern principles, practices and techniques of police administration, organization, and operation, and their applicability to civic situations. Technical and administrative phases of crime prevention and law enforcement, including investigation and identification, patrol, traffic control, juvenile delinquency control, record keeping and care and custody of persons and property.
